Indigo De Souza has released, “Crying Over Nothing,” the second single from her upcoming album, Precipice.

“Crying Over Nothing” is similar to De Souza’s first single, “Heartthrob,” in the sense that it deals with deep pain and heartache, but it’s set to music that makes you want to get up and dance. She shared on social media:

“Crying Over Nothing is about heartbreak that feels beyond reason. Pain that follows you no matter where you go or how much you try to lose it. Pain that comes from memories you can’t erase and love you can’t unfeel. It’s about loss that is never-ending.”

This song brings a different soundscape, experimenting with more traditional piano lines juxtaposed with chirpy synthesizers and even a few sprinkles of upright bass. It’s all tied together with a very clean rhythm and De Souza’s soothing voice delivering gut-wrenching lyrics like, “I guess I gotta get on with it / It’s only hurting holding onto this… I still love you like I did at the start / Barely surviving, I hate being apart.”

“Crying Over Nothing” is just dripping with production value. It was co-produced by De Souza and longtime collaborator Elliott Kozel, who also works with R&B queen SZA. The music video also aptly illustrates the beauty and pain of living through a seemingly unsurvivable breakup. There is a foreboding storm, but De Souza dances and sings her way through it.

“Crying Over Nothing” is available to stream wherever you listen to music.
