Surviving an identity crisis with LIPBOMB’s “STRANGER”

Date:

All eyes are on the newest all-female rock band out of New York called LIPBOMB. The band consists of four talented members: lead vocalist/ guitarist Belle Bongiorno, drummer Kayla Klockler, bassist Shannon Meeks, and guitarist Mollie Montgomery. The band gives listeners a mixture of in-your-face rock with a dramatic theatrical edge to their unique sound.

Their newest single, “STRANGER,” is no exception to the developing talent emerging into the New York music scene. “STRANGER” delves into the concept of feeling foreign in one’s own skin, struggling with an identity crisis. Belle and Kayla collaborated to create such a masterpiece. Lead singer Belle leads listeners into the hypnotic storytelling with her ethereal and bold vocals, paired with the heavy leading guitar riffs and bassline. The rhythmic drums carry the pace of the single.

Listeners can fully relate to the band’s message with lyrics like, “I’m looking at a stranger / Every time I see her / Staring in the mirror / Hoping to see someone new / I know, somewhere / Happiness is out there / When do I get my share? / I wanna be / Who I see / But she’s a, stranger, stranger.”

In addition to “STRANGER,” the band released their debut single “TASTE” on Aug. 15th, solidifying the rock and metal elements the band wishes to express to their audiences. Oct. 23rd marks a special event for the girls as they are set to play at an EP release party for artist Calliope Wren, alongside support from Wrens Muses, Just Julia, Annelise & Chris Ruben, and xstraightuphustler at the Amityville Music Hall, NY.
