Ross Newhouse’s “Words I’d Use” is a love letter to his other half

Date:

Tenderness and admiration come together in perfect harmony to create the newest single released by renowned artist Ross Newhouse. His newest song, “Words I’d Use” featuring folk singer Grace Gardner, captures the “universal longing to help a partner see themselves through your own eyes.”

Produced by Cole Lumpkin (Cool Company) and Kinnship (Naomi Scott, Carmody), this single is set to appear on Newhouse’s upcoming album, I’d Rather Feel the Weight, set to release in early May. For fans of artists such as Miya Folick, Sabrina Song, and Adam Melchor, the record blends together indie-rock guitars and lush, swirling electronic drums; much different from the single’s indie-folk origins.

In a press release, Newhouse describes the process of co-writing this single with Gardner, saying:

“I don’t usually co-write my own songs. I do a lot of writing for other artists, but am particularly precious about my stuff. That all changed on this album through meeting artists like Grace, who have a way of extrapolating emotions and putting them to page…. We came across this theme of admiration for our partners and wishing they could see themselves through our eyes. What made this more unique was us knowing our partners felt the same way about us, but us not believing them. Thus, we created this song about that push and pull, wanting them to believe in the words we say but us not believing the words they say. This hypocritical cycle of self doubt and admiration gives these lyrics a gentle and melancholy approach to a typical love song.”

Much more can be expected from Newhouse’s talents with his forthcoming album release.
