EMME unpacks broken trust on stripped-back “Ammunition”

Date:

With her latest single “Ammunition,” released last Friday, LA-based singer-songwriter EMME delivers an indie pop slow burner that hits with emotional precision.

Built on a steady guitar melody and smooth, understated production, “Ammunition” lets EMME’s vocals take the lead. This is especially true in the chorus, where her range and layered harmonies flourish.

Lyrically, it unpacks the feeling of betrayal. But instead of lashing out, EMME chooses to hold back. “Ammunition” is about restraint as a form of power; knowing you could retaliate, but choosing not to. Sharing more about the meaning behind the song, EMME states:

“it’s my anthem for anyone who’s ever been burned by broken trust.”

Stripped down and honest, the track sits perfectly alongside the discography of similar artists like Holly Humberstone.

EMME is known for being a fantastic songwriter, recognised behind the scenes with credits for Grace VanderWaal, JORDY, Tritonal, and Le Youth. Now focused on her solo projects, it’s exciting to hear her voice front and centre.
