Wildflower Mind’s “Home Alone” is the perfect soundtrack for a night out

Date:

Phoenix-based band Wildflower Mind have independently released their first studio album, Go, Indigo. The up-and-comers found their first audiences on their high school campus in 2022, and continued to grow a loyal following playing local charity gigs. Now, on their debut album, they showcase their flair for dreamy synthpop, blending catchy guitar licks with full harmonies and emotional, hook-driven melodies.

“Home Alone,” is a heartfelt party tune about making a genuine connection and hoping to carry it beyond just one night (“Not just tryna take you home / but baby tell me are you going home alone tonight / Maybe I acted too soon / Or are you just so cool when you’re staring through my soul”). The indie pop band drew from 80s pop rock and more recent dance music trends to create a cinematic, high-energy anthem for lovers of The 1975, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Spacey Jane. Sonically, the mix seems to lack just a little bit of richness on the low end in some of the further-back layers of sound like the synths in the pre-chorus, and the acoustic percussion in the chorus. Even so, it’s a solid display of the group’s style; Wildflower Mind is a very clearly talented group with a bright future ahead of them.

“Home Alone” is available to stream wherever you listen to music, along with the full album, Go, Indigo.
