The Japanese House Is Back With Dreamy New Single “Lilo”

Date:

Beginning with Pools to Bathe In in 2015, Amber Bain has been building a fanbase for herself and her dreamy hypnotic sound. Bain kept up a frenetic pace with a new EP every year and relentless touring with labelmates The 1975, but 2018 has been a relatively quiet year for the English singer-songwriter.

That changes today with the release of “Lilo”. The fantastic new song is a slow burner, gradually rising in intensity and feeling as Bain sings about the beautiful feeling of beginning a new relationship. She added more about the song’s origins in an Instagram post, writing that “Lilo is a song about that relationship, how she was everything I needed at that time and how, to me, her every movement — paired with her approach to life — seemed as serene as the image of a lilo floating across a swimming pool.” While we don’t know if “Lilo” will be a part of her debut full-length or not, it serves as a stunning reminder of Bain’s songwriting abilities and is an exciting preview of whatever comes next.
