Sienna Melgoza returns with “Hate It When I See Ya”, an intimate and beautifully conflicted slice of indie pop. The track unfolds slowly, inviting listeners into the quiet tension of seeing someone you once loved and realizing how far apart your lives have drifted. Melgoza’s voice carries both ache and restraint, layered with harmonies that echo the pull between closeness and distance, in a style that recalls Ariana Grande’s smoky intimacy and Tate McRae’s lyrical honesty.

The song captures the contradictions of a breakup that ended on good terms. As Sienna explains,

“It’s about being so infatuated with someone that you hate being around them. It hurts too much to know you both live two completely separate lives now.”

Ambient synths and subtle textures build into a bittersweet crescendo, underscoring her lyrical vulnerability.

Written by Sienna Melgoza, Caleb Hulin (Avril Lavigne, Demi Lovato), Aaron Brohman (Demi Lovato) and Ashley Mehta, produced by Brohman and Hulin, mixed by Mat Mainhard, and mastered by Dale Becker (SZA, Billie Eilish), the track perfectly balances vulnerability and sophistication.

With “Hate It When I See Ya”, Sienna invites listeners to sit with the heartbreak, to dance through the ache and to find beauty in the contradictions of love and loss.
