Melodic Music Monday: February 23

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Lana Del Rey, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” – Lana Del Rey has released her latest single, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” off her upcoming album, Stove. She wrote the song with her sister, Chuck Grant; her brother-in-law, Jason Pickens; and her husband, Jeremy Dufrene. The track was produced with help from her frequent collaborator, the legendary Jack Antonoff.

– Madison Haynie

——

Lenox Hills, “Treading Water” – Lyrically, the song taps into feelings of never being able to give enough in a relationship, with the other person always wanting more and yet never truly being satiated. Lyrics like “”But I’ll be fine / I must say I can’t ever tell / What you want from me / My glass half-full always tends to spill / Won’t you set me free, just let me be” exemplify this message.

– Rae Bozeman

——

Jake Thistle, “Sleep On Me” – The song unfolds like a late-night confession, in which the singer-songwriter begs for forgiveness for his actions, singing, “So sleep on me, sleep on me / One day I’m gonna get it right / Sleep on me, sleep on / I’m a make-it-up to you kinda guy.”

– Germano Blanco

——

Loren Heat, “Romeo and Juliet” – There are pop songs that flirt with drama and then there are pop songs that are the drama. With “Romeo and Juliet”, rising electro-pop force Loren Heat delivers the latter, transforming one of literature’s most iconic love stories into a sharp, seductive, queer-coded anthem built for the dance floor.

– Laury Verdoux
