French artist Max Baby has released his new single “Fakdap,” arriving alongside the announcement of his forthcoming EP Break, set for release on November 7 via Animal63. The project will mark his second EP, following last year’s Out of Control, Into the Wall.
Over the past year, Max Baby has been steadily making his mark within the alternative scene, standing out with his nocturnal energy and unpredictable, unique creative vision. His music feels confident and vulnerable at the same time, creating moments in which euphoria meets melancholy.
His new single “Fakdap” captures that duality. The production on the song feels alive; it’s led by layered drums and jagged guitar textures, creating a sense of restlessness. There is a tension between control and chaos, where Max Baby’s unpredictable energy comes through.
Speaking on the inspiration behind “Fakdap” in an interview with NME, Max Baby shares:
“I have this recurring dream: I leap into the air, soaring higher and higher. But when gravity pulls me back, the ground is gone, and I’m left falling endlessly.
At its core, ‘Fakdap’ is about grappling with inner chaos, asking why things have to end, searching for a sense of home, and realising that recovery isn’t something you can do entirely alone. It’s a reminder that if you’re struggling, whether with depression or anything else, it’s okay to reach out for help.
It may sound heavy, but to me this song transforms that weight into something light, cathartic, and even euphoric — turning struggle into release.”
Max Baby’s journey continues to gather attention. This year alone, he’s been recognised by NME as one of the best new acts they discovered at The Great Escape festival in Brighton, England, before being named among the festival’s Fifty Artists for 2026. He’s since played All Points East alongside The Maccabees, sharing the stage with the likes of CMAT, Black Country, New Road, and The Murder Capital.
