Lisa Heller releases “Crushing On Straight Girls” in time for Pride Month

Date:

At the beginning of Pride Month comes a new queer alt pop anthem from Lisa Heller. “Crushing On Straight Girls” tells the story of Heller’s personal struggle with bisexuality and the complicated situations she often finds herself in as a result of falling for women.

With heavy percussion and synthesized vocals, the song harkens back to early 2000s emo. Simultaneously, the song blends itself perfectly into the current pop landscape in its build-up of tension and cathartic release in the chorus. Lyrically, the song focuses more on Heller’s experience of being openly bisexual than the process of coming out.

“Crushing On Straight Girls” is the first of five singles to be released in anticipation of Heller’s debut album, HELLO MY NAME IS, set to release later this year.
