I Know I Know creates a melancholic dreamscape on “Ride or Die”

Date:

British alt rock multi-instrumentalist I Know I Know has recently released their newest single “Ride or Die,” an atmospheric journey through intense emotions, with a heavy edge.

“Ride or Die” kicks off with a sharp guitar riff, which softens into Tommy Hill’s melancholic vocals. The contrast between the heavier guitars and the electronic undertones becomes a dreamscape for the listener to dive into while still being a headbanging track. The complexity of the sound is reminiscent of early 2000’s alternative indie, but it does not feel nostalgic; it manages to feel both inspired and innovative, bringing in a balanced mix of indie pop and alternative rock.

The lyrics blend in nicely with the music, telling a story that explores both feelings of loss and the hope in possibility. It feels open ended, in a way that allows the listener to add their own interpretation according to personal experience, and Hill’s vocal performance is both confronting and soothing. “Ride or Die” is catchy and pleasant, but most of all, it evokes a feeling of longing that can change from one person to the other.
