Good Charlotte announce the release of their first new album in seven years

Date:

Pop-punk icons Good Charlotte are officially making their return with the announcement of their eighth studio album Motel Du Cap. The record arrives on August 8th and serves as the band’s first full-length release in seven years since 2018’s Generation Rx

The album announcement was made via a billboard found on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, CA, that displayed the album’s title, release date, and a photo of the band. While Motel Du Cap is the band’s official return to music, frontmen and brothers Benji and Joel Madden haven’t been slowing down within the industry. Over the last few years, they’ve been largely exploring ventures on the business side of things, including their artist management company MDDN, Joel’s Artist Friendly podcast, and livestream platform Veeps.

Good Charlotte began teasing their new project on social media earlier this year when a video teaser featuring throwback clips with the caption of “GC 2025” was posted in January. Since then, the rock legends have announced various festival appearances for the later half of 2025, including Aftershock and Ocean’s Calling. The band also recently played their first live show since 2023 at this year’s Welcome to Rockville, where Benji teased the crowd, sharing: “We got a record coming out in August, we’ll be on tour.”

The band also posted a teaser to their Instagram page on Monday, which acts as an advertisement for what they call “Waldorf’s best kept historical landmark since 1996.” They encourage fans to book their reservations here, leading to a page on their website to sign up for their mailing list.
