Last weekend Amazon Web Services (AWS) kicked off its inaugural Intersect Festival in the heart of Las Vegas. The festival took place over two days and featured over 30 artists of different genres as well as unique interactive experiences throughout the festival. Taking up 1 million square feet of the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, Intersect included three stages, numerous outdoor art installations, a dodgeball court, an amazing selection of local food vendors, a drone light show, and a huge ‘Experience’ tent which housed an arcade, a giant ball pit, and a slide/multi-story bounce house. Though the atmosphere and interactive experiences were a major factor in setting this festival apart from others, much of the allure also came from its eclectic lineup of performers. On Friday, between the three indoor stages, festival-goers were treated to performances from Snail Mail, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, CHVRCHES, H.E.R., Jamie xx, Beck, Kacey Musgraves, and more. Saturday drew an even larger crowd and featured a little something for everyone with performances by Spoon, Leon Bridges, Thundercat, Anderson .Paak, Toro y Moi, Brandi Carlile, KAYTRANADA, and Foo Fighters closing the festival with an incredible two hour set. All in all, it seems the first year of Intersect was a wild success, and the festival has pledged to be back again in 2020 for round two.
