Decorating her old school country sound with a campy and ethereal flair, Americana singer-songwriter Sierra Ferrell has proven herself as one of the genre’s most exciting up-and-coming stars. Last year found Ferrell hitting major career milestones, as the release of her fourth studio album Trail Of Flowers earned the singer four Grammy Awards. Ferrell earned Grammy wins with the record for Best Americana Album, Best Americana Performance (“American Dreaming”), Best American Roots Song (“American Dreaming”) and Best American Roots Performance (“Lighthouse”).
Now, the “Jeremiah” singer is returning from a month-long break to get back on the road again for her 2025 Shoot For The Moon Tour. Supporting Post Malone on his arena tour, Ferrell’s Shoot For The Moon Tour has also found her playing with support from the likes of Nikki Lane, Willi Carlisle and Kashus Culpepper. Starting the tour again on July 12, Ferrell will play a number of major festivals — including Calgary Folk Music Festival, Lollapalooza, and Hinterland Music Festival — and tour as support for Mumford & Sons this fall.
Born and raised in West Virginia, Ferrell was surrounded by music from a young age. After growing up on her mom’s love for ’90s music, she soon found herself playing in a number of different local Blues and roots bands. In 2018 Ferrell self-released her debut album Pretty Magic Spell, and self-released her sophomore album Washington by the Sea the following year.
A YouTube video of her song “In Dreams” had gone viral in 2018, soon earning the attention of famed producer Gary Paczosa (Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss). Paczosa helped Ferrell earn a deal with Rounder Records in 2019, and by 2021 she released her debut album with the label, Long Time Coming. Over the years, Ferrell has collaborated with a number of renowned stars, including Billy Strings, The Black Keys, and Zach Bryan. In March of 2024 was when she released her fourth LP Trail Of Flowers, which further cemented Ferrel’s status as a modern roots icon.
Incorporating elements of jazz into her bluegrass artistry, Ferrell has maintained an eclectic, authentic and undeniably refreshing approach to the folk genre. Her artistic identity is strengthened by ethereal and spiritual aesthetics, adding a modern glow to her overall nostalgic musicality. The love child of Chappell Roan and Loretta Lynn, Ferrell brings forward everything hard and true about classic country music, delivering her poetic lyricism with a dreamy twist.
