Slaughter to Prevail drop their heaviest album yet with 'Grizzly'

Russian deathcore band Slaughter to Prevail has never been known for subtlety, and on their third full length album Grizzly, they lean all the way into chaos, catharsis, and cinematic violence. Released via Sumerian Records, Grizzly is as relentless as it is unpredictable, offering listeners a punishing blend of guttural ferocity and genre-bending experimentation that’s as fearless as frontman Alex Terrible himself.

One of the album’s most talked-about tracks “Song 3″, a collaboration with BABYMETAL, shouldn’t make sense, but it absolutely does. The fusion of kawaii-metal sweetness and deathcore madness is jarring, dynamic, and oddly catchy. It’s also a testament to the bands commitment to pushing the envelope in a scene that often punishes risk. “Rodina” begins as a soft, acoustic ballad before unleashing a firestorm that blends folk, power metal, and deathcore into something unexplainable. Meanwhile, “Imdead” featuring Ronnie Radke of Falling in Reverse plunges into nu-metal territory, complete with yowled hooks, offbeat spoken word segments, and a chaotic structure that somehow doesn’t fall apart. Radke’s inclusion could have felt gimmicky, but instead it gives the track an uncomfortable tension, that we just needed.

On the new album front man Alex Terrible shares, “I think this is the best album we have ever written. We put so much effort into it. We spent a lot of time on every detail and really poured our souls into the songs. In the past, we were always rushing to finish albums and just releasing whatever we had. This time, we took our time, worked carefully on each track, and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. Hopefully it was all worth it.”

With the summer packed with main stage festival performances across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, 2025 is already shaping up to be a career-defining year for Slaughter to Prevail.
