Wilson makes the point that distractions can only get you so far when it comes to easing the pain of heartbreak.
“Party Girl” makes sparks fly with riveting bass lines, hauntingly ruminative harmonies, and an adrenaline spike of a hook. He sings, “I wanna take you out dancing / I wanna feel you near / C’mon now tell me a secret / Whisper in my ear / I only came to this party ’cause I knew you’d be here.” The music video for “Party Girl” follows Wilson as he navigates a night out alone, jinxed by ghosts of his past along the way. Revealing more on his track, Wilson confides, “‘Party Girl’ is about being out and getting that pit in your stomach like you miss someone desperately. Seeing others around you having a great time but all you can do is wish for that special someone to be back in your life – but they’re not coming back.”
