Most of us have either been someone’s rebound or have rebounded on someone else before. For Stockholm-based singer Natalie Reigo, this realization became the inspiration behind her bold new pop anthem, “Rebound.” The empowering track encourages women to stand up for themselves and demand the respect they deserve.

Known for her work blending pop, soul and R&B, Reigo is only 18 years old, but her music has already gained over one million streams. She aims to be a voice for young girls seeking confidence and self-worth. Reigo shared in an Instagram post that she wrote this song at the start of high school, two years ago, after meeting a boy she thought she was falling in love with — only to realize she was just a rebound (“Why’d you make me believe in something that wasn’t real?”).

In this upbeat, dance-pop-inspired track reminiscent of Tate McRae and Sabrina Carpenter, Reigo sings, “I guess I was a way of passing time.” She reclaims her dignity and control through powerful lyrics like, “I’m not a vacation. I am a home, boy.” But ultimately, she says, “Rewind,” making for a powerful female expose of what it feels like to be played by someone you thought cared. Reigo shares:

“The idea for the song came during a studio session with songwriter Matilda, who also sings backup for Zara Larsson. As we were talking about relationships, it suddenly hit me: ‘Wait… was I his rebound?!’ Matilda burst out laughing and said, ‘You have to write about that!’”

Reigo has collaborated with those who have worked with artists like Zara Larsson. She looks up to Larsson and hopes to follow in her footsteps by commanding attention and refusing to tolerate disrespect.
