Indie-rock sensation Mary Middlefield has released her new single “Take me as i am” alongside her second studio album, Will You Take Me As I Am?. The new album sees the singer in a much more assertive, rock-leaning sound while still maintaining the emotional vulnerability she’s defined within her work.
Throughout the album, Mary carries the themes of self-ownership, identity, and the longing to be accepted for who you are. “Will You Take Me As I Am is a record born from my constant need for validation and love,” Mary said. She continues:
“I wrote this album while asking for love in a thousand different ways, sometimes gently, sometimes desperately, sometimes without realizing I was asking at all. At its core, this record is one long question: to an audience, to a lover, to a friend, and to myself: if I unveil everything… will you take me as I am?”
Will You Take Me As I Am? is out now on all streaming platforms. Middlefield is set to take the album on the road throughout Europe starting at the end of this month. You can find tickets here.
