Krooked Kings release their latest pop-rock single, “Parking Lot”

Date:

Krooked Kings released their new beach-rock single, “Parking Lot,” a feel-good indie tune to fall in love with, signifying the beginning of the band’s new era.

Keyboardist David Macey shared:

“’Parking Lot’ is a romantic daydream; the imagining of what a future life with a new crush could look like. Which can be sort of embarrassing but also a very fun thing to get swept up in. For the band it was very local, we can all picture the bar, parking lot, etc. in Salt Lake City that the song is happening at. Still, listeners will instantly be able to paint this song into their own local dive with their own intense crush.”

Krooked Kings began in the college basement of founding member Oli Martin in 2018, taking inspiration from artists like Mac DeMarco and Julian Casablancas (The Strokes) to form their signature blissful, melodic sound. The band has since rebranded in 2025, marking the beginning of a new era for Krooked Kings as they shift from online trends to what drives them to create music beyond the online sphere:

“The past few years haven’t been easy for us as a band. Somewhere along the way, chasing trends and appeasing algorithms started to drain the passion we had for creating music. It felt less like sharing art and more like chasing clicks. In that process, we began to lose the genuine connection with both our music and with you. […] Now, it’s time for a new chapter of Krooked Kings. One where the music comes first. No more noise, no more chasing trends, just honest songs and a renewed connection with the people who made this journey possible: you.”

The new chapter of the now 5-piece band began with their October single, “Rancher’s Daughter,” now followed up by “Parking Lot.”

Krooked Kings are now on tour in support of New Jersey indie-rock band The Happy Fits and their latest album, Lovesick until the concluding date on Nov. 22 at the Gothic Theatre in Denver, CO. Remaining tickets are available here
