It is mind-blowing to think about how long Kenny Chesney has been in the country music game. It’s even more mind-blowing to think about how much he has accomplished. Did you know that he has played to over one million fans each year since the summer of 2002? Or that he holds the Billboard record for Most Country #1s? Let’s not forget that he has won the Entertainer of the Year award eight times over… His fans, also known as members of the No Shoes Nation, have bought over 35 million of his albums, drawn in by the love and sense of community that each album fosters. And now, fans will be drawn in by the stories that Chesney tells in his debut book, Heart Life Music, which is set to be released this November.
In Heart Life Music, Chesney sheds light on his life before, during, and after finding his place as the well-known country artist we know today. He gets into life as a small town kid from East Tennessee who engaged in sports and music before making the transition from high school football player to musician in college. There, he found a passion for performing and went on a quest to chase after this person he was meant to be. As he established himself as the coming-of-age artist of the 2000s, he formed friendships with his idols and sold out major stadiums and arenas. All the while, he has tried to stay true to who he is, and Heart Life Music preserves all of these different parts of Chesney that make up both the man and the artist.
With the help of Holly Gleason, Heart Life Music preserves Chesney to the fullest. The Nashville-based writer and artist development consultant is a former Rock & Roll Hall of Fame/Case Western Reserve Fellow, LA Press Club Entertainment Journalist of the Year, and Journalist of the Year for the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Association. Her work has appeared in outlets like Rolling Stone, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, SPIN, CREEM, and Playboy—just to name a few. In 2023, she co-authored Miranda Lambert’s cookbook, Y’all Eat Yet?, which was a New York Times bestseller. More information about Gleason can be found here.
Heart Life Music will be released on November 4. You can pre-order a copy here.
