Joji breaks musical hiatus with haunting new single “PIXELATED KISSES”

Date:

Japanese-Australian singer Joji breaks his 3-year musical hiatus with the release of his new single “PIXELATED KISSES,” the follow-up to his 2022 album, SMITHEREENS, which featured the global hit “Glimpse of Us.”

Entirely written and produced by Joji, “PIXELATED KISSES” is a moody trap-influenced track in which the songwriter delivers one of his catchiest hooks. Composed of a chorus and post-chorus only, the record remains simple in its structure and shines in its haunting production and melodies.

Lyrically, Joji writes about his discontent with a long-distance relationship, singing, “Pixelated kisses got me goin’ insane / Replicate this moment from a million miles away / Waiting for the signal, baby, never make a sound / If you never hear from me, all the satellites are down.”

“PIXELATED KISSES” marks Joji’s first release under his own independent label, Palace Creek, distributed by Virgin Music Group. He has previously released his debut EP and first three albums under 88rising.
