ILUKA serves attitude and anthemic hooks in “California Boys”

Date:

ILUKA returns with yet another earworm of a song: “California Boys.” The single is a fiery pop anthem dripping with attitude, infectious hooks, and ILUKA’s signature cowgirl twang.

The song is an unapologetic jab and razor-sharp takedown of “womanizers” — self-absorbed men who “ghost without guilt,” in the words of ILUKA, and hide behind hollow charm. The typical pop-rock production perfectly mirrors the story and ILUKA’s raw, raspy vocal delivery, making for a polished final sound. The rhythmic guitars and punchy, driving drums perfectly frame her voice without overpowering the lyrics. It’s a witty, relatable and catchy addition to ILUKA’s discography. Her voice swings between honey and gravel, wrapping scathing observations in melodies that linger with the listener long after the song is over.

Taking inspiration from female powerhouses such as Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, ILUKA creates music that resonates strongly with the loyal following she’s amassed over the course of several single releases. With its rebellious spirit and bold chorus, “California Boys” solidifies ILUKA’s place as a rising force in strong, female-fronted pop rock.
