David Wimbish puts a solo spin on The Collective’s popular indie-folk track, “Medication – Deserve To Be Well”

Date:

David Wimbish—known as the frontman of The Collection, A North Carolina-based indie folk/pop band—reinvents the band’s popular track, “Medication,” with his own stripped-down, solo twist.

The new single, titled “Medication – Deserve To Be Well,” was released under the name David Wimbish & The Collection, signifying a new solo chapter in Wimbish’s artistic journey. This version explores the raw, singer-songwriter side of indie folk—a contrast from the band’s up-beat, production-heavy original version—gliding along with folk-style guitar strings, piano and a classic folk staple: a banjo.

In “Medication – Deserve To Be Well,” Wimbish voices an inspiring transformative experience of finding light in the void—even if it’s just a small spark. To stay focused on that light and his goal of becoming a healthier version of himself, he prioritizes taking small steps rather than giant leaps. The lyrics, “So now I’m dropping the weight of the earth / Just long enough to give me a rebirth / ‘Cause I deserve to be well, yeah, I deserve to be well,” emphasize the beginning of his journey toward wellness and fulfillment.
